YES YOU! Don’t give up.

How we wish we could see the future, then we can continue on this path or change direction, it makes it easy for informed decisions to be made. We then know the right decisions, the steps to take, the people to approach, the job to change, that friend to let go of, the books to read and whether you should be an entrepreneur or pursue a corporate career.

However, does this make life interesting and intriguing to live? Human emotions is in constant moving and changing cycle, it begs for equilibrium. You are happy, then you sad, you feel the need to be alone then in a switch, you need company. Sometimes, you wake up feeling in control; yes, it is a good day, feeling successful then in a twinkle of an eye, that feeling of inadequacy and failure come rushing in. Nevertheless, wait, don’t give up. It is being human, trust the process it makes us stronger.

According to research the major reason people give-up are

1. Focus on the outcome

Yes we dream big, we are focused on the result, the outcome, but what happens next? No one does anything, or you take few steps, meet some roadblock and you entirely give up. In the journey life, focus on the lessons learned rather than the outcome, by doing so, you are able to chase away the feeling of failure and inadequacy.

2. Thought about what people think

It is human to care about what people think but too much of this leads to failure and failed execution. Rather than think about what people think, develop strong network of mentors and peers who are as motivated as you are.

3. Fear of Failure

Everyone failed. Show me a man that hasn’t failed and I’d tell you he hasn’t tried to change the world. Read the story of Abraham Lincoln, Our President Buhari and Jack Ma. Successful people know that failures are lessons. They have learnt better ways to do the same thing. Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”

4. Measures of someone’s success

I heard you are keeping an eye on my success? Does this encourage you to be patient or pushes you to the brink of impatience? Success is not only a process it is a gradual process. It take time to build. While you are keeping an eye on someone else’s success, ensure it motivates you to be better than who you were yesterday

5. Self-Trust and Continuous Learning

We are our own worst self-critic. It might be usual for you to see failure where people had seen you succeed. When you call yourself negative names, did it help? Why not tell yourself positive confessions. Know, it would work.

Remember, don’t give up. Trust the process. Trust your Emotions. It is being human. You will succeed.
